When I first laid eyes on this incredible feat of design, I knew I just had to have it. Made in the Philippines, this banana bowl is the epitome of mid century modern kitsch. I’m not exactly sure how old it is, but it’s won my heart!
Typically, the word “kitsch” is used to describe an object that is ornamental and contains a tinge of the nostalgic or childlike. Kitsch items have the intention of making us feel warm-hearted and transport us back to a time of wonder. Like, pink flamingoes in the front yard, hula girls on the dashboard, wood serving trays, and banana bowls like this one.
